Principal: Anthony Smith BA (Hons) ACMA

 

Anthony went to Wyvern school in Weston-super-Mare where he passed 8 'O' levels. After leaving school he decided to follow a career in Hotel and Catering Management and took a two year diploma at Weston College. Following successful completion of his diploma, he worked for two companies before opening his own Restaurant and Food Manufacturing business in 1991.

 

After three and a half years trading, he decided to change career direction and went to University at the Harrow School of Business, which is part of the University of Westminster. Whilst studying for his degree, he also spent six months at The School of Business Administration, University of Miami. Anthony completed his degree in 1998 achieving an upper second class degree with honours in Business Administration. Following completion of his degree, he started his career in finance working as a cashier at Watford magistrate’s court.

 

Following this, he worked for a building construction company in Wembley, taking on responsibility for the general ledger and cash book, the turnover of this company was circa £30M. This was followed by a two year stint as the Management Accountant at a registrars company with a turnover of circa £90M.

 

A brief spell as a Policy Accountant at a major Life Insurance company followed before he joined a UK top tier Bank. Anthony spent seven years in Banking, the first four in Corporate Banking, analysing customer profitability and taking responsibility for direct and indirect costs before becoming an Internal Auditor for three years.

 

Anthony is a Qualified Accountant, being an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (1-F9SH), he is also a Licensed Practising Certificate holder (#0391) with CIMA.

 

Anthony is a keen aviator, holding both a Glider Pilot's Licence and a Private Pilot's Licence. He owns a share in a light aircraft. Sunday mornings often include a trip to an airfield in Devon for a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich!
